What is the core gameplay of Devil Dash?

Are the traps in the levels random?

What happens if the character touches a trap?
Once the character hits any trap, you’ll immediately fail. The current level must be restarted from the beginning. However, you won’t be sent back to the previous level, and unlocked content (such as tools or progress) will not be lost.
