• The Battlefield: A standard 8×8 checkered board. White always moves first, followed by Black, in a turn-based battle of wits.
• The Starting Lineup: Each player commands 16 pieces: 1 King, 1 Queen, 2 Rooks, 2 Bishops, 2 Knights, and 8 Pawns.

• Checkmate: When a King is under attack and has no legal moves to escape, block, or capture the attacker.
• Resignation: A player may concede the match if they feel the position is lost.
• Draw: Occurs during Stalemate (no legal moves but not in check), insufficient material to win, or the 50-move rule.

⌨️ Game Controls

• Interaction: Simple Mouse Click (PC) or Tap (Mobile) to select a piece.
• Smart Assist: Once a piece is selected, the board will highlight all legal moves. Simply click the target square to complete your move.

Can a Pawn promote to a second King?

No. When a Pawn reaches the opponent’s baseline, it can be promoted to a Queen, Rook, Bishop, or Knight. However, the rules of Chess dictate that each player can only have one King at any time.

What happens if I don’t move out of "Check"?

Escaping a "Check" is mandatory. If your King is under attack, your next move must involve moving the King, blocking the attack, or capturing the piece that is delivering the check. The game system will prevent you from making any "illegal" moves that leave your King in danger.

How does the matchmaking work?

We use a Skill-Based Matchmaking system. Rather than being purely random, the game pairs you with opponents of a similar rank and win rate to ensure a fair and challenging competitive environment for both beginners and pros.

What exactly is a Stalemate?

A Stalemate is a form of a Draw. It occurs when the player whose turn it is has no legal moves and their King is not in check. Since they cannot move but aren’t technically "beaten," the game ends in a tie. Mastering how to avoid (or force!) a stalemate is a sign of a high-level player.

Can I play against my friends privately?

Absolutely! Select the "Play with Friend" mode in the main menu to generate a unique match link. Send this link to your friend, and you can start a private duel instantly. Whether they are on a PC or a mobile browser at easegame.com, the connection is seamless.
