Brickyard 400 Oval Racer
Race 160 laps at Indianapolis Motor Speedway — draft, manage pit strategy, and kiss the bricks
About Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the oldest racing facility in North America still in use. Built in 1909 as a testing ground for the infant automobile industry, it became synonymous with the Indianapolis 500 — and then, from 1994, with NASCAR's Brickyard 400.
Unlike traditional oval tracks, Indianapolis is a rectangle with four distinct corners rather than a true oval. The 9°12' banking is modest compared to Talladega or Daytona, making setup critical — the car that works in the turns isn't always the same one that works on the long straights.
Race Strategy in Brickyard 400 Oval Racer
Drafting on the Straights
The two front and back straights at Indianapolis are each 3,300 feet long — long enough to build a significant draft and execute a slingshot pass. The game models aerodynamic push accurately: pull out too early and you lose speed before the pass is complete.
Pit Stop Windows
The game simulates fuel mileage over 160 laps with three to four stop strategies. Pitting under caution is always faster. Staying out longer than your rivals gives track position but costs lap time as tires wear.
The Yard of Bricks
The game's finish line crosses the original 36-inch strip of exposed bricks. Win the race and your driver performs the traditional post-race ceremony — lying face-down to kiss the bricks.

Brickyard 400 Oval Racer — FAQ
How does drafting work in Brickyard 400 Oval Racer?
Following closely behind another car reduces aerodynamic drag, allowing you to build speed without full throttle. Pull out of the draft at the right moment to slingshot past on the straight. On a 2.5-mile oval, drafting position determines the race.
When should I pit in Brickyard 400 Oval Racer?
Tires degrade over roughly 40 simulated laps. Pitting under caution saves time vs. green-flag stops. A 4-tire stop with fuel gives the biggest performance gain; 2-tire stops are faster in the pits but leave you at a handling disadvantage.
Is Brickyard 400 Oval Racer free to play?
Yes — completely free, no download, no account. Open the game in any browser on desktop or mobile.
What is the yard of bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway?
The original 1909 track surface was 3.2 million paving bricks. Asphalt was added over the decades, but a 36-inch strip at the start/finish line was preserved. Winners kiss the bricks — it's one of motorsport's most iconic post-race traditions.
